13 Steps to Successful Blogging

13 Steps to Successful Blogging

By: Ant Onaf

Blogs can be a very marketable and very profitable tool if used correctly. Profiting from blogs is just a matter of grabbing the attention of an audience and not doing any actual salesmen selling. In this article you will learn the 13 most essential steps to successful blogging.

1) Where to start?
You should begin your blog with a free blog hosting service such as Journal Home. I don't say that because I'm the owner, but a free blog host is very rewarding for a new blog.  Starting with a free blog hosting service allows you to begin blogging instantly without having any advance knowledge of scripts, hosting, or programming. It allows you to build an audience and buzz for your blog.  It allows you to focus on your content and not the internal maintenance of the blog. The best benefit of starting with a free service, is in the case your blog doesn't become successful you do not lose any money or are you left holding the bill. The great thing about a blog is that they are organized in chronological order, your latest entry is displayed first. When your blog traffic grows greatly and you are ready to upgrade to your own domain then you can simply make your last blog entry the announcement of your "move".  Simply add a last entry stating that your blog has "moved" and type the new blog URL address. Which directs visitors to your new blog site, keeping your following, without a major inconvenience to anyone. Upgrade as you need to...but only when you need to!

2) Niche
A niche is a targeted product, service, or topic. You should first decide on a product, service, or topic which interest you. Choose an area which you can enthusiastically write about on a daily basis. You can use keyword research services like Google Zeitgeist or Yahoo! Buzz Index to find popular searched topics. It does NOT matter if your topic is popular as long as there is a audience for your topic and the topic is precisely focused then your blog should be successful. Anything can be considered a niche as long as it has a target audience no matter how large or how small the audience is. A blog about your cat can be a niche or a blog about the species of the cat family can be a larger niche market, if there are people who are interested in hearing about your cat or the species of the cat family, then you have a niche...you can even choose to build your audience for a market which an audience does not exist, but first you must build your blog.

3) Update Daily (nothing less)
This step is a must and not a suggestion. Updating your blog daily not only keeps your blog more interesting to readers, but it also gives your blog fresh content on a day to day making it more appealing to search engines. Not updating your blog on an occasional holiday or one day here and there is understandable to most, but missing days at a time or weeks is unacceptable and will most likely result in your blog being unsuccessful. To keep your blog traffic and retain your visitors interest it is a must to update your blog daily with multiple entries. Though, I am seeing a growing trend of successful blogs that are not being updated daily, but they are successful and have a stable audience who continue to visit their blog daily.  Regardless, these blogs are still updated weekly with multiple entries.  Until you have a steady audience you should try to update your blog everyday with at least 3 or more daily entries. The best way to accomplish this is to set aside 1-2 hours a day for tending to your blog and adding new entries. It may even be wise to schedule a set time which you dedicate to your blog each day. Give yourself work hours and treat your blog as a job, what happens if you don't come to work for days or weeks...you lose money or worse you get fired! Same applies here...if you don't update your blog for days or weeks you'll lose visitors.

4) Traffic
It's no secret. You must have traffic to profit from blogs. There are numerous ways to build traffic. Paid advertising, free advertising, viral marketing, search engine marketing, RSS/XML feeds, and word-of-mouth. You should always use your blog URL address in the signature of your email, forum discussions, message boards, or any other communication media. You should submit your blog URL address to search engines and blog directories. You should submit your RSS/XML URL feed to blog ping services like Technorati, Ping-O-Matic, and Blogdigger. You should confidently share your blog with family, friends, co-workers, associates, and business professionals when it relates. Many blogs can be considered as a collection of articles, for this purpose you should submit your blog entries (those that are valuable and lengthy articles) to content syndicators like GoArticles.com or ArticleCity.com. Once submitted your articles can be picked up and published by others. The trick is to make sure you include your Blog URL address in the "About the Author" passage. What this does is create link popularity and backlinks for your blog, when someone picks up your article from the syndication then publish the article on their website the "About the Author" passage is included with each publication and the link you included is followed, crawled, and indexed by search engines. Imagine if your article is popular enough or controversial enough to produce 10,000 publications across the web. The search engines is bound to find your blog in no time with that many publications and credit you a authority on the topic, in return increasing your rank on search engines. The small effort of writing a well written article is rewarding. You should try to write at least 1 full length article every week for syndication and submit your article to at least 10 article syndicators.

5) Track Your Blog
How do you know if your blog has traffic? Just because no one is leaving comments doesn't mean your blog isn't growing. Many visitors do not leave comments but they are returning visitors. I know it sounds crazy but with blogs people are more interested in what "you" have to say! Many visitors do not comment their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time. Some do not comment at all, but are active daily visitors.

Tracking your blog does not have to be overly sophisticated usually a simple free page counter like StatCounter.com or Active Meter will do the trick. Install (copy/paste) the code into the html of your blog template and start tracking your visitors. Its better to use a service which gives you advanced traffic analysis, such as keyword tracking information, referral information, and search engine information. Visitors, returning visitors, and unique visitors should be standard for any page counter service you choose.

6) Listen to Your Audience
When using the proper page counter you should begin to see how others are finding your blog and if through search engines then which keywords are being used to find your blog. If constantly your blog is being found by 1 or more keywords then focus your blog around those keywords to make it even more powerful. When writing entry titles and entries use the keywords as often as possible while keeping the blog legible and interesting.

7) Multiple blogs
Use multiple blogging accounts (free) to attract more people. This means you should have a blog with JournalHome.com and others. The more blog accounts the better (be sure to read and adhere to the Terms of Service for each site). You can copy/paste from 1 blog to all others. Having different blog accounts is like having a publication in different newspapers. This enables you to attract more visitors and this also increases the chance that 1 of your blogs will be in the search engine results for your focused keywords.

8) Short & Concise
Aside from the lengthy article a week for syndication and publication your blog entries should be short & concise (if you can help it). Sometimes there are exceptions to the rule and you have no choice but to blog lengthy entries, but try to avoid this as much as possible. You do not want your blog entries to become hours of reading. Visitors like to easily find information and skim through your entries. It is good to be detailed and provide useful information, but do not include useless information or run away sentences that veer away from your topic.  Stay keyword-focused.

9) Digital Art
Try to include non-advertising graphics, pictures, photos, and art in your blog entries. Not too much. Once a week is fine. Graphics can sometimes bring your blog to life. Of course, the content of the blog is the most important aspect and you do not want to overshadow your content with graphics, but displaying graphics can add a bit of spice to the blog. Be choosy about your graphics and make sure they fit your entry topic. You should add content with the graphic, at least a caption. Original graphics, photos, pictures, and art is recommended.

10) Keep it Personal
A blog is most successful when it is kept personal. Try to include personal experiences which relates to the topic of your blog entry. Stay away from the business style of writing. Write with a more personal style and use first-person narratives. Do not write any of your entries as sales letters, instead share product reviews and personal endeavors.

11) Interact With Your Visitors
You now have the traffic you deserve. You should begin interacting with your visitors. Create a regular theme such as: "Monday Money Tip" or "Picture of the Week" which entices your readers to look forward to each week.

Give your readers advance notice about a product, service, or topic which you are going to review and then talk about later. If the President was scheduled to give a speech then in your blog you should state that you "will discuss the speech and give your opinion after the speech airs. Comments will be appreciated".

Try your best to find exclusive information that not many have. Do not disclose any confidential or secret information which is deemed illegal or can potentially get you into trouble, but try to get the scoop before everyone else does. Such as: If your blog was about Paris Hilton (the socialite) and you had a blog entry about "Paris Hilton Getting Married" then it would be interesting to your readers if you had a actual picture of Paris Hilton engagement ring. Give your best effort to dig and search the internet for exclusive information and you will possibly come up with something useful. Your readers will appreciate this and they show their appreciation through word-of-mouth referrals. Imagine how many readers will tell their friends, family, and others about information they only can find at your blog.

12) Make Money
Once your blog has gained some real momentum and your blog traffic is increasing then it is time to start thinking about turning your traffic into profit. You should use contextual advertising, like Google Adsense or Chitika. Contextual advertising is usually text links which use the content of your blog to publish targeted ads on your blog. The payout is usually based on a pay-per-click model, meaning for ever click an ad receives you are paid a small percentage of the profits. In addition to contextual advertising it is good to also use graphical advertising such as: BlogAds.com, Amazon.com, MammaMedia, or General Sponsored Advertising.

13) You're a Professional
You're a professional now! What are you still doing with that free blog hosting service? It is time to upgrade to a domain hosted solution. You need to get a web host and choose a domain name for your blog then check its availability. Select the blogging software you wish to use, such as: Squarespace.com, WordPress.org, MovableType.org, TypePad, etc. When you have your new blog domain setup and ready for traffic then it is time for you to announce your move on all your previous blog accounts. Your last entry to the blog should be a "move" announcement. The title should be "Moved" and the blog entry should state something like "I have a new home for my blog, please bookmark and follow the link: http://www.YourNewBlogDomainName.com". This way all returning visitors and new readers should not have any problem finding your new blog domain.  Plus, search engines can easily index and crawl your new blog, since your old blog should already be popular with the search engines.

At the level of a professional blogger you may want to team up with 1 or more other bloggers. This will create a more interesting and more powerful blog. The old saying "two heads is better than one", more authors mean more advertising and exposure because each author will have a vested interest in the blog. The idea of a team blog is to make it profitable and rewarding for all authors, while continuing to target the blog topic and keeping the blog interesting for visitors.

Following these blogging techniques should make your blogging experience much more rewarding. There is no guarantee that your blog will become popular or a household name, but the effort should at least put you one step closer. Making money online is not an overnight experience like many may think, but making money online is definitely a foreseeable possibility. As well, growing popularity on the web is not an overnight experience, but through time, dedication, and persistence you will be rewarded with all the royalties of blogging.

So You Have A Website Now What?

So You Have A Website Now What?

By: Jessica VanderHaar

You start with a great idea or product that you want to market. You have done the research and built the website but how do you drive people to your site? The internet can be a field of dreams; however, due to its sheer size even if you build it, they may not come.

If you have unlimited funds, you can definitely pay to get your website submitted to multiple search engines quickly. If you want to submit your website to search engines for free, it can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks for the search engine to finally add you to their results. But you want traffic now.

There are a lot of submission programs being advertised on the internet. Some are legitimate programs and some will take your money and not deliver. It is hard to know who to trust. Here are some ideas to help assist you on the road to success.

1. Promote your website yourself.
This sounds like a very broad statement and just where do you start? Get creative. There are many avenues that you can take to advertise your product and/or website.
a. Add your website information to your signature line in your email account. Every time you send an email, you are also advertising your website.
b. Print up flyers about your product / website and post them around your community.
c. Take out classified ads in your local papers. Many of these you can do online and can do so rather cheaply.
d.  There are multiple free classified sites that you can submit to. You may not get a large number of clicks through free classifieds but the goal is to get your information circulating.
e. Another good avenue I have found to drive traffic to your website without having to pay out large advertising dollars is by using Instant Buzz. Instant Buzz is the easiest way to drive targeted traffic to your website just by doing what you do anyway; surfing the web. You can install Instant Buzz in seconds, never do anything different ever again, and you'll still earn traffic every time you surf. It is free to use so you don't really have anything to lose and everything to gain. For more information you can visit http://www.InstantBuzz.com/r/?jpvh28

2. Pay-Per-Click
This form of advertising can get pricey pretty quickly but by using Google Adwords and Yahoo, you can set your own daily spending limit to ensure you don't go over budget. Both sites have keyword help to assist you in creating the keywords for your ads. A small word of advice, start small when using Pay-Per-Click. Allow yourself the opportunity to get the hang of it. If you choose keywords with low click price, you can receive more clicks before you reach your limit. There are a lot of great resources out there to learn about using Pay-Per-Clicks.

I have come across an eBook that has changed my way of thinking when it comes to Internet Marketing. It is called "Dotcomology. The Science of Making Money Online". This book contains information on how to use Pay-Per-Click search engines properly to drive traffic to your site; How to profit using Google Adwords; How to make your website attractive, engaging and interactive. This book has so many resources and insights, I am unable to list them all within this article. The best part of this eBook is that it is free. No gimmicks, no hype. Just a free resource for you to use.
Visit http://www.affiliatehomepro.com/dotcomology.html to download the book and start using the Internet as the powerful tool it is.

"Leveraged" Information = MORE Website Traffic

"Leveraged" Information = MORE Website Traffic

By: Mark Smock

If leveraging unique or proprietary information is one of your fundamental strategies to increase unique visitor traffic to your web based business, then it is important to understand seven fundamental information perspectives you can use to give your company the edge it needs to effectively compete in the marketplace.

As the internet continues to evolve and become more competitive, the dependency of the quality of the information you provide via your website becomes more critical to market niches.

As information processors we rarely, consciously think about HOW we absorb all the information we take in via the internet. It is reasonable to assume that two of our six senses, vision and hearing, represent the most significant means used to absorb information on the web. Although seeing copy and hearing sounds coming from information provided, it makes sense from a strategic marketing perspective, to take a moment to evaluate how virtual information can be best absorbed via seven fundamental information perspectives.

Seven Fundamental Information Perspectives

1) Information Exclusivity:
* How unique, original or proprietary is your website information?
* Infinite choices of common information equates to clutter and boredom.
* The "value" of information provided is always unique to every visitor
* Emphasizing the uniqueness of your information also gives it more worth

2) Information Quantity:
* How much website information is too much?
* Detail overload can quickly exceed site visitor's interest levels
* Volume of information provided should correlate with the breadth of the information requirements of your targeted market niche

3) Information Distinction:
* How unique should your website words and terms be?
* Markets and industries have distinct information terms and sayings
* Try to "talk the talk" of your targeted market niche on your website
* Distinctive information can be the critical purchase decision variable

4) Information Accuracy:
* How accurate does your website information have to be?
* Information accuracy requirements correlate to the potential liability of negative consequences that result from information incorrectness.
* Earning the trust of your website visitors is an on going, consistent process

5) Information Timeliness:
* How "current" does your website information have to be?
* The speed of information delivery often adds perceived value
* Often competitive advantage goes to the source with the "information shortcut"
* Out-of-date information is often associated with poor customer service

6) Information Interactivity:
* To what degree are website visitor responses critical to intended message absorption rates and communication effectiveness?
* Maintaining a dialogue with your visitor equates to increased loyalty
* Increasing dependency of visitor responses decreases broadcast effectiveness

7) Information Format:
* What is the most effective way to structure your website messages?
* Information absorption is best achieved in small increments
* Simplifying the visual structure of your website information "invites" readership
* User-friendly information navigation maximizes visitor website involvement

Every web based business is vulnerable to new competitors within their targeted virtual market niches. There will inevitably always be someone else who can provide the same or similar product, service or information in a different way or via other creative communication tactics. Although different is not always better, as a virtual customer solution provider you are obligated to always focus, understand and improve your website visitor's perceptions and their ability to "get your message".

Understanding the seven fundamental perspectives of information flow can make a significant difference in your ability to differentiate your virtual messages from the increasing bandwidth of information flow on the internet.

The 4 Attributes of Successful Affiliate Marketers.

Over the years I have worked with well over a million people in this space here within Wealthy Affiliate. I have seen just about every walk of life imaginable from someone struggling with their current situation, to a business that needs help within the online world, to doctors and lawyers that simply don't love their careers and want an escape.
Regardless of the situation, there are several attributes that I can see in people that indicate to me whether they have a really good chance of success or failure. Instead of my focusing on the negative here, I would rather focus on the positive and what I see within those that I know will have success in their future.
There are FOUR "success" attributes in particular that I would like to discuss and focus on here.

Help Others, But Don't Forget to Help Yourself!

Today I want to have a bit of discussion about productivity, but I am going to be discussing it in a way that hopefully will give you some newfound perspective as to why you are not accomplishing what you WANT to accomplish, and frankly, why are better at helping others achieve their goals.
This discussion is going to be about "proximal empathy".
People have a natural tendency to teach those they care about, things that they know is the right thing to do. The problem is that we care more about others we care about, typically than we do ourselves.
This typically goes for friends and family members, or caring about others in general (including our pets).
Let's look at a few examples of this, and then I want to put portray the idea of "proximal empathy" in terms of business, and hopefully help you become better at what you already KNOW you should be doing, but you aren't doing (and that you are likely able tell others to do).

We Care About Others More Than Ourselves.

10 Habits to Get Things Done

Expert Author Christy Geiger
In today's busy world, with the holidays approaching, how do you get more done? It is a topic that continues to be pressing in our active world today. Here are a few classic tips that save time but are not always standard in people's habits.
1. Appointment setting - Often people go back and forth with long text or email conversations to schedule appointments. Create a free Google calendar for yourself on YouCanBookMe.com so people can pick and schedule a time. If your schedule is not able to be standardized, at least shorten the correspondence by suggesting three times vs. messaging back and forth. It is amazing how many messages it can take to get one appointment unless one communicator puts forth multiple options to expedite finding a time.
2. Measure your results; maximize your time - When doing things, many of us would love to take all the time in the world to make it "perfect". The problem is "perfect" is not only hard to achieve but is usually not "cost-effective". This doesn't mean you have to ditch excellence, but it does mean you have to understand what is 80% Optimum.
Recently at a conference, a speaker suggested a concept called "Get-mo" short for "Get More". It is similar to the philosophy of Optimum. It is looking at the task at hand, the time you have and finding creative solutions to achieve the outcome. It is the epitome of maximizing time. Understand what is a "reasonable" amount of time to do a task or project or "time available" and then find a way to accomplish the results in that limited scope of time. Period. Much time is wasted or absorbed in tasks that take way too long, which then results in mistakes, rework, parts that now need different solutions, plus new emergencies that cut in line because a task is taking way too long.
3. Have Daily Routines. Many routines we have are invisible to us. Think about how many things you do in the AM when you wake up. Most people have it down to a little routine that they go through pretty "mindlessly". If you are intentional to take a few more tasks that you have on a regular basis and bundle those into AM Habits and PM Habits your mind will count them as "one" task (vs the number of tasks that are bundled into that routine). When you do them in the same order each day and do the routine consistently, the task will move from conscious awareness and effort to the subconscious ability to execute. This means you will be able to do it quickly while your brain is able to hold or prepare for other things.
4. Stop multi-tasking & focus on one thing and finish. The more stressed we get, the more common it is to leave things half done. We start something and then are distracted or jump to another task, often associated with what we were doing, but by the end of the day, we can feel frustrated that lots were touched but nothing was done. The key to getting traction is to FINISH. You have to pick one task; then be disciplined and keep yourself focused to the FINISH. It is important the task is a specific action vs a project, however, if you outline the "step" that needs to be done, focus there and get it done.
5. Be organized. Have systems for your things and label them. My friend who is a Professional Organizer taught me this years ago. She even had me label sections of my bulletin board! It helps to keep things organized and find or process things. When you get a new contact, enter it in your phone, get the right information and enter it with your "contact naming configuration". Some people will leave numbers unlisted and then be searching for that person later when they have the information but didn't "enter" it. If you do these things when you first get them, you will find great time savings. When you send emails, use the subject line. It will help for searching, sorting and finding later. When you have files, have a "file system" so you can file things in the right place. It is easy to save everything to your desktop or C: drive, but then difficult to find. If you have a system with your key folders set up and then have that same system in email, soft folders, and paper folders, you will find your mind is able to organize and conform to the system quickly.
6. Start with the end in mind - know the goal and what you are trying to accomplish. Like was said in point 4, know what you are really trying to accomplish. Sometimes we start projects or tasks, only to get stuck with needing more information, supplies, another part to be done, etc. This often results in partially done projects sitting. This not only takes up space and mental energy but it is emotionally distracting to have partially finished projects. Whenever possible know what the "end" is and work to finish the task to the end.
7. Have a list and a plan. Some people believe they have a great memory and don't like to write things down. Sometimes we feel too busy to stop and make a list. Other times people are just not "list makers". The thing is, making a list is helpful for your brain. It clears the different thoughts floating around and allows the organization of those thoughts and priorities. It doesn't matter what "type" of person you are or not, the brain works more efficiently when you are able to download thoughts and tasks, organize priorities on a list and get going.
8. Get to the point. Small talk and connecting relationally is important, however, time is often wasted by being unprepared for what the goal is and the purpose of the time. In meetings (even a 1-1) have an agenda, have an identified goal and focus on that, set a time limit, stand up for meetings, have a note taker, highlight actions. Time is valuable for everyone and most people appreciate it when you respect their time and keep things on track.
9. Declutter. While some people feel that "stuff" is not a problem or is an "organized mess", the truth is humans work faster with a clear desk and organized space. You can find things faster, loose things less and are more focused. There was a study done years ago that studied people at their desk with it cluttered vs decluttered and even those who loved and wanted to keep a cluttered desk, were proven to work faster and more efficiently without the clutter. Take time daily to clear your desk. Take time nightly to "clean sweep" and pick up your home. Clear and clean your car, bag, whatever you use on a regular basis. It will make a difference.
10. Wake up early. First things first. What is most important should be done the first thing of the day. That is why the "Eat that Frog" is a great concept and "Miracle Morning" is a critical productivity tool. It gets your mind focused and all the "critically important" but not urgent items done. I will confess, I am NOT a morning person and it is not always easy for me to nail this, but it is true when you do these things (affirmations, mediations, work out, learning/reading, journaling, etc.) it gets you off on the right foot AND ensures that you do them. You can drag them along on your to-do list for the day and sometimes hitting these items at lunch, end of workday or PM is possible and a better time, but the truth is what you want to MAKE SURE you do, do it at the top of the day!
There might be items you do already and some you do not think you could do, but find and pick ONE that you can put into practice to support your efforts to get more done in your life!

Setting Up Your Website

At this stage of the course you should have your website created! Congratulations, this is a big accomplishment!
Looking back to 2002 when I started my career in Online Business it took me 30 days just to figure out how to build a website. There definitely weren't any platforms like the Website platform you have access to here. What takes 30 seconds now, took 30 days back then.
How things have changed!

In this lesson we are going to be walking you through the process of the initial website set-up. This includes the removal of "default" content that is installed with every website as well as a look around of the back office of your website.
Additionally, I am also going to be walking you through the activation of your "Plugins" and be walking you through the benefits of the plugins (feature extensions) that have been installed automatically with your website.

Below is a video walk-through showing you the process of setting up your website. Click play to watch the "Setting Up Your Niche Website - The Initial Steps" video below.

Does Perfectionism Poison You? Here Are 5 Telltale Symptoms

Expert Author Paula Eder
Sometimes it's subtle - sometimes it's glaring. But on any and every level, perfectionism exerts a paralyzing influence.
Does perfectionism poison you?
If so, the first challenge is to recognize it. Only when you see it can you apply the antidote.
But here's the problem; if you desperately want to be perfect, self-diagnosis can feel excruciatingly painful and difficult. Identifying your desire to please, and seeing how it debilitates you, is especially challenging since perfectionism is often highly rewarded in society.
So the best way to start this journey is with compassion. Self-acceptance mobilizes you and makes it unnecessary to seek validation from others. Then, by opening up to an understanding where your desire to be perfect started, you can begin to reduce its power.
Let's start by briefly examining these origins. I invite you to open your mind and open your heart and remember that perfectionism is overcome with compassion and realism!
Where Does Perfectionism Come From?
Perfectionism usually has its roots in early childhood and is generally an attempt to control something that feels uncontrollable. Perhaps in response to criticism or punishment, you attempted to master your environment by providing what was demanded of you. This could set you on a perfectionistic course.
What Behaviors Signal Perfectionism?
When you relate as a perfectionist, you:
  1. Relate reactively rather than responsively. You waste hours trying to second-guess others' needs and desires and not enough time defining what you genuinely need.
  2. Smile stiffly - like an exaggerated grin you might wear in front of a camera. This reflects stress, not confidence or happiness.

Honoring The Grace Of Small Things

Expert Author Ada Porat
Sometimes life calls us to become still, to be quiet, and to pay attention to the Divine nature of everything around us. In that stillness, we come to acknowledge the beauty of song and the openness of the bruised, the magic of the insignificant and the terror of the unknown.
And from there, we bring the message back to others to, in turn, shake themselves awake and start looking at life again as if for the very first time.
It does not matter what brought you here, or which path stripped away your protective layers to leave you trembling before the awe of life. You are here now, and so I wish to share with you a vision of things that touch our hearts. I want to gift you a glimpse of the intricate and miraculous web of life and see the recognition light up your eyes, even as these things stir the deep memory of endless possibilities to love despite the vastness of an incomprehensible universe.
Today, I awoke to the symphony of birds whose names I'll never know and marveled at the incredible complexity of their harmonies as they exuberantly welcomed the arrival of a bright new day. It spoke to me of joy.
In the street, parents walked their children to school, small hands swallowed up by theirs, smiling as they inclined their heads to hear stories bubbling from those rosy lips and downy cheeks, excited at the possibilities of a new day, and it spoke to me of hope.
I remembered the way a sloth wove slowly through the branches of a tree hanging upside down so her baby could cling to her belly without fear of falling, and I felt love.
At the base of the stairs, the fern finally succeeded in breaking through the stony cracks to unfurl its tiny fronds to the warm sun, and it speaks of courage.
The way young people lean eagerly, expectantly into their future even when they don't know what it holds, and it speaks of confidence.
And the way the old dog stretches out to let the morning sun warm its stiff joints and surrenders to each present moment.
And the way the car hesitates for a moment before the gear engages, reminding me of my own doubts.
And the way the grackles peck at the green oranges in the trees, carefully grooming themselves with the oils and then announcing their gleaming handiwork with loud caws before flying off to what they do next. And I am reminded that self-nurture precedes all service.
And the way a sentence can leap right off the page to pierce your heart with its honesty and truth, so you need to stop for a minute to experience the awe and beauty of it.
And the way you sometimes glimpse someone in a vulnerable moment and see right inside them to the soul that's there, and your heart wells with compassion and love for its innocence.
Yes, I know that there is a lot of pain and suffering in our world. Good things end and bad things linger on, we fail and struggle and get hurt, hammered by loss and accident and tragedy until, some day, we slip away into the darkness beyond it all.
But I also know that we carry awesome potential and our experiences can make us kinder and more loving if we let them. I know we have a choice in how we respond to life: either dismissing dissonance as nonsense and huddling behind walls, or embracing the things that touch us even when we do not understand their full meaning.
Life speaks to us in a myriad of ways that cannot be measured or understood unless we listen carefully, and then are able to accept the messages of love, courage and hope. I know that life can be a beautiful dialogue with our souls, and for that I am deeply grateful.

You have likely heard the term "keyword research". This is the act of finding keyword phrases that are relevant to your niche and deciding whether or not it is appropriate to build content around that particular keyword.
Keywords are going to be the “root” of all your SEO success.

First Off, WHAT IS A KEYWORD?

A keyword is simply a word or phrase that people search for in the search engines. Every time you do a google search you are entering a "keyword" into the search box.
For example, here is an example search I did in Google.
This is a keyword. I searched for something that I was looking for and Google is going to provide me with the most relevant results (see below).

Are Your Adwords Campaigns Getting The Best Of You

When you first set out to create your Adwords campaign its important not to go "keyword crazy"---- Resist the temptation of creating long list of irrelevant and generic keywords. For example you run an automotive dealership website. It would be inappropriate for you to target the keyword "BMW". The CPC cost per click for such a generic keyword would be incredibly high, compared to a more descriptive and relevant keyword, such as "BMW 745Li long wheel base"

Don't make your keywords too general. In this case they bring a lot of traffic, but hardly any conversions, because the traffic is not well targeted, and as a consequence your ad is badly distributed.

Similarly if you used the keyphrase "tail light covers" it wouldn't produce any conversions assuming you stricktly conducted automotive sales only. The phrase might bring visitors to your site, but if they don't find what they were looking for when they get there, they will leave just as quickly as they arrived.

Its very important that you identify your specific niche and to market directly to users who want the products and services that you are offering. Don't trick yourself into thinking that broader is better. With Adwords that's just not true.

More on improving your keyword targeting skills.

Unless you take advantage of the phrase matching options by using the tools offered at W.A and adwords alike makes available, chances are that you are missing out on potential customers and creating a higher CPC for yourself. Broad matches are usually less targeted than exact and phrase matches. Broad matches is the default option under which your ad will appear for expanded matches such as plurals or relevant keyword variations.

When you utilize phrase matching, your ad will appear for your chosen search terms in the order that you specify, and sometimes for other terms, too. Exact matching is by far the most targeted option to use, so don't neglect it! You ad will appear for the exact keyword you specified. The negative keyword option is also a great tool -- it allows you to specify the keywords for which you don't want the ads to appear. Here's a quick example of how these targeting options work:

Here is an example of what you could work with.

  • Broad match: Default option: espresso brewer
  • Phrase match: Surround the keyword in quotes: "espresso brewer"
  • Exact match: Surround the keyword in square brackets: [espresso brewer]
  • Negative match: Place a negative character before the keyword: -espresso brewer
  • word stemming and misspellings (espresso, nespresso, esspresso. etc.)
  • discover synonyms (espresso maker, espresso brewer)
  • figure out different punctuations (espresso machine, espresso-machine, etc.)
  • do not limit your search to one word phrases; find two word phrases, three word phrases, etc

Do not limit your search to one word phrases; find two word phrases, three word phrases, and so on etc also think about specific problems that can appear related to your business; use them as keywords (espresso machine repair).

Take the time to test these different matching techniques, and to tweak your selections to improve your conversions.
